Fox Hunt Announcement

KPARC will host the next Fox hunt on Thursday March 11, 2010

· The Hunt will start at 4:00PM and end by 5:00PM

· The Fox will be somewhere within a 2 miles radius of the intersection of Pebble Beach Blvd. and Highway 674.

· The Fox will be “hidden” in plain sight on publicly accessible property and will remain fixed at the same location for the duration of the hunt. There will be a sign attached to the Fox.

· The Fox will be accessible by car / golf cart.

· When joining the Fox Hunt check with net control, Tom Cooney – KE9LN, on the KPARC repeater (147.090 PL145.2).

· When you've located the Fox, notify net control of your success – WARNING, DO NOT TRANSMIT USING THE DF ANTENNA – you may damage your radio.

· Obviously, don't broadcast the Fox's location during the hunt (duh).

· At 5:00PM net control will announce the termination of the hunt.

· The Fox will be beaconing a sequence of: 60 seconds “on” then 30 second “off” - The 60 seconds “on” will be the combination of 1 beat of a transmitted tone followed by 10 beats of transmission (PTT) with no tone, just carrier – Then 30 seconds “off” will be off-the-air totally (no carrier), Then repeat.

· To keep the FCC happy, at the end of each “on” period the Fox will do a CW ID

· The frequency of the Fox is 145.600

· We will gather at Ozzie's Buffet & Grill for dinner immediately after the Fox Hunt (5:15 PM). All are welcome !

· Work solo, in pairs, or teams - All Hams are welcomed, You do not need a license to fox hunt!, Hint. Be safe and have fun.

The Fox is currently located at the KPARC club house and is beaconing 24/7 for experimenting. Check out your DF antenna!
