Kings Point Amateur Radio Club hold monthly QRP Outings though out Sun City Center

What is QRP?

Amateur Radio QRL Outing refers to an activity where amateur radio enthusiasts, also known as hams, venture outdoors to operate their radio equipment. The term “QRL” is a Q-code used in amateur radio to ask, “Are you busy?” or “Is this frequency in use?” During a QRL Outing, participants often set up portable stations in parks, wilderness areas, or other outdoor locations, away from the typical home or fixed-location setups. These outings provide opportunities for hams to test their equipment under different conditions, enjoy the outdoors, and engage in radio communication with other enthusiasts locally or globally. It’s a blend of technical experimentation, social interaction, and outdoor recreation within the context of amateur radio hobby.
